In a previous post, only parameters and measures were used to perform the design optimisation. This time, the optimisation loop will include FEA (finite element analysis).

FEA is generally used to validate a design by simulating the loaded condition of a design in order to predict the stress, strain and displacement values. Iterations are needed to reach a target or to minimise a value. The CATIA Design optimisation module, “product engineering optimiser” is found within the “knowledgeware” module. It allows the user to deal with FEA analysis inside the optimiser tool in order to significantly reduce design time.

The following video shows how to use the optimiser module combined with the Generative Structural Analysis module.
