The Project

German cruise ship maker Meyer Werft wanted to find a better way to integrate its PLM software with other enterprise systems and improve its data flow.

The Challenge

With more than 3,000 employees and operations spread over three countries, integrating data efficiently between different enterprise systems has been a long-term challenge for Meyer Werft.

The Results

Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform is now used to manage product information throughout the entire process – from the beginning of the design stage until the day the ship is handed over to the owner.

“In the past we were doing our integrations in a very complex way, but we have simplified and improved that using TIF!”
- Marcel Liening, PLM Solution Architect, Meyer Werft.

Meyer Werft Turns to TECHNIA

Integrating Data Efficiently with TECHNIA Integration Framework

With more than 3,000 employees and operations spread over three countries, integrating data efficiently between different enterprise systems has been a long-term challenge for Meyer Werft. PLM Solution Architect, Marcel Liening even described the company’s previous point-to-point integration system as “a mess.”

“If you connect applications directly together it becomes an integration mess. Because if you change data in one system you have to do the integration all over again.”

– Marcel Liening, PLM Solution Architect at Meyer Werft.

Product Data Holds the Keys to Product Value

Data Integration made simple, safe and secure.

With Product Lifecycle Management being such a  component of the company’s ship-building process, Meyer Werft turned to TECHNIA’s Integration Framework to simplify and speed up the process. TIF provides a supported software that plugs in to the company’s enterprise integration architecture and connects it to the PLM system.

“What we are doing now is to simplify the connections in between the systems so that we deliver information in a standard way to other systems. It helps us optimise our processes and connect data in a better way.” said Marcel Liening, who described Meyer Werft’s path toward mastering integration at the PLM Innovation Forum, Stockholm in October.

TIF helps users move away from point-to-point integration by connecting the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to multiple enterprise systems at the same time.

“With TIF, you can easily control which information comes into or out of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. And there are no limitations on the number of systems that get integrated.”

– Anders Malmgren, Business Development Executive at TECHNIA.

Final Thoughts

Meyer Werft builds some of the world’s most modern and sophisticated cruise ships. And Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform is used to manage product information throughout the entire process. From the beginning of the design stage until the day the ship is handed over to the owner.

“The idea behind using 3DEXPERIENCE is to have the visual 3D construction drawings available in each application, so that you can easily jump in from different sides of the application, like CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA. They all use the same database and the same data. Our vision for the future is to use our integration capabilities to combine design and production to get more value from this platform.”

– Marcel Liening, PLM Solutions Architect at Meyer Werft.
